Ben Horak

After my time serving in the Marine Corps, I spent a few years searching for a career that truly fulfilled me. However, none of the jobs I had were enjoyable. It wasn't until I DJ'd at my sister's wedding in Minnesota that I discovered my passion for event entertainment. Being able to help others have a great time is something that I find incredibly rewarding. Eventually, I decided to make it my full-time career, as I realized nothing is boring about what I do.

When people hear the word "DJ," they often think of the stereotypical Wedding Singer character. However, I prefer to think of myself as an entertainer who brings a high level of professionalism to the industry. There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that people don't see, like equipment setup and tear down, as well as hours of planning beforehand. Though it can be tiring, seeing the joy on my client's faces at the end of the night makes it all worth it. It's what keeps me fired up for the next event.

What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
The key to keeping the party alive is to watch the crowd, a good DJ knows how to read what people want by their actions, and the music needs to flow with the people in the room to keep everyone moving.

How would you describe your ‘style’?
My style when performing is fun and energetic, I love to make people laugh and have fun. While I was in the Marines I learned that professionalism is key to success, I strive for professionalism in everything I do.

What do you love most about your job?
Mostly I love to meet new people and experience life, in this line of work, I get to meet people from many different walks of life and faith groups. I was told once "Do a job you love and never work a day in your life", I love my job!

What inspired you to start your own business?
I have worked in several different fields, from Joining the Marines at 18 to selling cars and being a service advisor at a local dealership. Sales is a very stressful job so when I started to DJ I did it as a way to relax and have fun, through the years it has become something that I do full time and I love every minute of it.
